Shaggy Blog Stories

It's out! It can't be bought at Sainsbury's!

For every book sold, £3.63 goes direct to Comic Relief.
To buy, it costs £12.72 including £3.76 postage and packing.
Which may not seem very charitable but it's better than 10p from a £2.00 sandwich at Sainsbury's.
And if it's going to be done, it's the best return you could hope for.
The publishers are making nothing out of the sales but publicity.
The contributors are making nothing out of the sales but a wider audience.
Shit, I'm not selling this very well, am I?

Yes, there are the usual A-list bloggers there but also a lot I haven't heard of before. And as far as I know this is the first anthology of (hopefully funny) bloggers' writing ever assembled in Britain. So I'd probably buy it even if some of the money wasn't going to charity.

What I mean to say is...

BUY THIS BOOK!

  1. Well done you and Betty for making it into the Premier Division ... I will be buying the book just for your involvement alone. (When I discovered my own hilarious input had been binned I laughed so hard I snorted white powder up my nose.)

Update: Been over to www.lulu.co.uk and there is only some shouty mutton/lamb Glaswegian bint trying to look like Twiggy. Didn't LOL at all!

  2. Cheers, Murph.

If it was down to me, you and quite a few other bloggers on my sidebar would be in it (I'm pleased that Vicus and Patroclus made the cut, too). I am absolutely gobsmacked I'm in it as I chose a post that I thought might fit in with the possible "funny thing happened to me on the way to the forum" type theme that could be running through it. I had to go back to December 2005 to find anything half decent. I'm probably completely wrong about the type of post we're going to see, in which case I could have submitted the post where I compared Sting to Jesus Christ.

    It's a gamble, innit?

  3. Well done Geoff.

I note that you were too modest to mention that you were in it.
Or are you one of the bloggers you've never heard of?

  4. Thanks for letting me know that some of my favourite, regularly funny reads are included in the book (you, Betty, Vicus etc).
I was a bit dismayed when I read the partial list of contributors given at the 'official' site - I don't find any of them remotely amusing.
If I'd have known that Belgian domiciles could enter, I would've had a go myself. ;)
    Well done all.

  5. Oops..
"I don't find ANY of them remotely amusing" should, in fact, read:
"I don't find MANY of them remotely amusing".
    Sorry.

  6. Kaz - Cheers. I'm not so sure I'm modest, just a bit embarrassed that I'm in it and other funny writers aren't.

Arabella - I don't find many of them remotely amusing either. But they are reasonably popular and the project wouldn't have gone ahead without them, I suppose. And I'm looking forward to seeing if there are any funny blogs included which I haven't found yet. This is the first time I will have seen myself in print since a shite poem of mine was in the school poetry anthology. (My mum's still proud of me for THAT one).

  8. Nice one or your inclusion in the project Geoff. I'll have to buy it now, it'll save me looking through your past postings to read the actual chariddeee post included in said book.
    Big congrats all round.

  9. Cheers. Funny how you, me and Betty have all been linked in some way to Emma Kennedy this week.
