  1. Is Grant Lubbock going to be making an appearance - possibly as a murder victim?

I'm hoping Keith Allen and his extended family will move to Midsomer one day.

  3. Betty - Grant won't be on the programme, I'm afraid. But he will make an appearance somewhere soon.

Richard - Will they all fit into Midsomer? Hasn't he produced 1,000 children with 1,000 different women? Maybe Midwich would be a better bet.

  4. Is the man that he's going to stand by Orlando Bloom by any chance? Before 'Lord of the Rings' his only CV entry was Midsomer Murders where he impersonated the woodentops with John.

Geoff, I really really actually believed you when you said it was on and foolishly forgot to check (because I really ought to know by now) when I mentioned it Sharon's 28 yo mentally handicapped son who had just had a big strop about his dinner. I said if he would eat his dinner I'd let him watch Inspector Barnaby instead of no telly. You don't know the debt you owe Holby City.

  6. Kaz - But isn't 'Orlando Bloom' the name of a Hollywood star? Just as 'Simon Gregson' is the name of a soap actor.

Richard - Please forgive me and my childish ways. By the way, my friend did a song called Childish Ways - a tribute to Billy Childish.

    OK. Done.

    Which friend is that?

  8. My Billy Childish obsessed friend.

It was a front room recording - my CD won't play anymore.

My flatmate from college was a Childish paramour for a while in the very early 80s I do believe.

  10. Oh, I much prefered Bergerac. You knew where you were with Bergerac. The Channel Islands. And what a theme tune!

    Bow bow bowwowowow...

Oh shit, I've turned into a talking head on I Love 1986.

  11. "Oh shit, I've turned into a talking head on I Love 1986."

It is a good theme tune though. When I went to Jersey, I had it repeating in my head the whole time.

Does anyone remember a series starring Millicent Martin as an astrologer turned PI filmed around Folkestone/Ashford in the very early 90s? It was called "Moon and Son". My workmate's husband was the quietly efficient DC to the harassed "sarge". I don't think a second series was commissioned

  13. Del/Billy - I never saw Bergerac (or Midsomer Murders - In fact I've no idea what John Nettles sounds like - does he sound like Jethro?) and have no idea what the theme tune sounds like. Whereas the Van Der Valk theme tune is etched into my brain. I know I didn't love 1986.

Richard - Nope, but I think you've jogged my memory on something else. Would Millicent Martin have been supporting Tommy Cooper at Margate Winter Gardens in 1969? And as she sang would she look in the audience for a man she might fancy and alight upon my chubby little face? Would she give me a smile that made my heart melt and my face go beetroot red? If so, that was the evening, that was.
